Historic interiors in Philadelphia and landscapes at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden are two of the current subjects for my watercolor paintings. Interest in these two environments comes from a strong attraction to the design, light, and color found therein. It's something about the way things are arranged in particular places that literally turn into paintings in my head. Besides the composition of plants or structures, there is light and color. When the pigments illuminate the scene with the right rhythm and pitch, a painting sings.
