Volunteer, New-York Historical Society, Prints and Photography, assisted in processing more than 2000 photographs of the early 20th century Pictorialist photographer, Doris Ulmann.
1982-1999
Shortly after graduate school, Thomsen moved from Richmond, Virginia, to
New York where she joined four friends, Tom Dair, Dan Formosa, Davin Stowell, and Tucker Viemeister in founding Smart Design, a renowned industrial and graphic design firm. With some 50 employees in 1999, it is now more than 100 employees with offices in New York, San Francisco, and Barcelona. Smart is best known for its Oxo Good Grips, kitchen gadgets which can be found in both Target and the MOMA design collection.
