* The Brooklyn Botanic Garden exists in the gritty ultra-urban New York City borough of Brooklyn where the population (2.5 million) is larger than 16 of the 50 states. One might think such a rarified garden could be easily overlooked by the average Brooklynite. But on almost any day one finds many visitors from the surrounding neighborhoods strolling the walks or laying in the grass (if the weather is warm enough of course.) When a horticultural climax is erupting, such as the Cherry Blossom Festival, it's the equivalent of a museum "Blockbuster" as crowds line up at the entrance gates.
