NOT SO BIG, NOT SO LITTLE
2004
Installation piece

There are two sets of painted wood bed-forms in this piece, each set has three beds.

The group of small beds Not So Big incorporates headboards that are painted with landscape scenes. The painting technique borrows from traditional New England painted chests. In lieu of fabric blankets, the smaller beds are covered in wood moldings that have been drilled with small holes and tied-together so they drape over the beds.

The second set of large bed-forms Not So Little is covered with blankets made of fleece fabric. Crocheted geometric and abstract shapes are sewn to the fabric. The plywood beds are decorated with collaged with color prints of the crocheted blanket forms.
