DRAWINGS
Studies for Entwined and Chambers
2008 - 2009

These drawings are studies leading up to the Chambers series of watercolors in 2008, and a new, second series still in-progress, Entwine. More work will be added throughout the year, so please check back.

In late 2007 after completing the installation piece Ruched LIfe I started to draw and paint other domestic interiors. (Ruched Life referred to interiors in a nineteenth century octagon house in upstate New York.)

While looking for another subject, the search gathered momentum when I rediscovered some Marx tin dollhouses in a local antiques shop.

Then I dug out some of my 1950's and 1960's interior design books.

I also looked at decorative objects like wall mirrors and etageres. A detour to view old Hanna-Barbera Tom and Jerry cartoons was necessary because I love the cat and mouse floor-up-view of those high-ceilinged pre-war interiors.

As I worked through these ideas, I came upon Mount Pleasant, an 18th colonial mansion that is the source for Chambers.

If you would like more information about any particular piece please click contact to send me an email.
